Cannes festival: More than 100 walk out of 'disgusting' von Trier film

As far as the Cannes Film Festival is concerned, Trier has given the audience a tough time watching his films over the years and this time was no different.

I've never seen anything like this at a film festival.

This time around however, it's a Von Trier's latest film, not his contentious remarks, which are causing outrage. "I've just walked out of #LarsVonTrier premiere at #Cannes2018 because seeing children being shot and killed is not art or entertainment", one viewer posted.

Following the world premiere of Lars Von Trier's The House That Jack Built at Cannes, which reportedly saw up to 100 people walk out of the screening due to its controversial scenes, three new clips from the film have arrived online featuring Matt Dillon, Uma Thurman, Riley Keough, and Jeremy Davies; watch them here...

Reports of active shooter in Las Vegas-area shopping mall
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has tweeted that no shots have been confirmed, and no injuries reported. Several police cruisers are shown at Boulevard mall on Maryland Parkway, Thursday, May 17, 2018.

But von Trier disagreed, saying: "I made quite a lot of films about women, so now I made one about a really evil bastard". I had no knowledge of it but I for sure are interested in seeing it now.

Some leaving early called Lars von Trier's serial killer comedy The House That Jack Built, "disgusting" and "torturous". If I do, it will probably be a journalist. The reception when I entered the cinema yesterday was very warm. Thierry Frémaux has been working hard for me - for some reason, it was difficult to remove the persona non grata thing, very difficult. The filmmaker said at this point in his career it's not too important to be competing at Cannes, especially since he's done so numerous time and has won many Cannes prizes.

- Fuckface Jack ❤♠ (@CheNirvana)#TheHouseThatJackBuilt response at #Cannes is ideal marketing for the film, now thousands of people will be intrigued by what happens in movie that made people walk out of the screening. Anyone else would pick up their five awards and then stop, but I've been back again and again, for nothing.
