They asked for a doctor, and got America's top doctor.

When the call went out for a doctor on board, the U.S. Surgeon General says he gladly stepped in to help with a medical emergency on a commercial flight.

"Why yes - yes there was", he recounted in the tweet. Fortunately, the U.S. Surgeon General was on board and was able to assist the flight crew with the patient.

Adams was on a flight from Fort Lauderdale to Atlanta to catch a connecting flight to Mississippi's capital city. "Medical assistance was provided by the U.S. Surgeon General who worked with our flight crew to aid the customer", states Delta in a statement. Adams assisted the passenger out of the plane and even contacted the patient's spouse to relay what had happened. Neither the doctor nor the airline revealed what the passenger's medical issue was.
