Mother charged with 9 felony counts in child abuse case

Rogers said she previously enrolled her two oldest children in school but made a decision to teach them herself because she didn't think they were getting enough attention.

"Nothing was founded, my kids were placed back with me", she said. "I am an incredible mother". Allen, whom Rogers met about 10 years ago, is the father of eight of those children, according to ABC 7 News.

Har reported from San Francisco. He was sentenced to 180 days and three years of probation.

The boy was eventually found sleeping under a bush in a neighbor's yard, police said.

The two-story home was filled with "garbage and spoiled food on the floor, animal and human feces and a large amount of debris making areas of the house unpassable", Fairfield Police Lt. Greg Hurlbut said. The only reason the house was messy when police arrived, she said, was because she'd torn it apart looking for her 12-year-old son.

Juarez alleges Rogers assisted in the abuse and "dissuaded the children" from reporting their injuries, which include broken arms.

- A Fairfield father of 10, who is accused of torturing his children, spoke out from the Solano County jail on Tuesday.

In the six weeks since their mother's March arrest, the eight older children described to authorities several incidents of intentional abuse dating back to 2014, which resulted in puncture wounds, burns, bruising and injuries consistent with being shot with a BB or airsoft gun, police said. Neighbors say the grandmother is very loving, taking the children to school and on errands since both parents are in jail.

Police also say the children suffered a long history of physical and emotional abuse.

California prosecutors allege 10 children in filthy home were waterboarded, hit with crossbows, BBs, kicked and punched.

The allegations were part of prosecutors' attempt to have the children's mother Ina Rogers' bail increased after she was charged with nine counts of felony child abuse on Wednesday. He appeared in court Monday, pleaded not guilty, and was ordered held in lieu of about $5 million bail. Sharon Henry, the county's chief deputy district attorney, said they were tortured "for sadistic purposes".

"Based upon what the children stated in their interviews, we believe torture occurred in this house", Henry said at a news conference. She was released on April 9 after posting a $10,000 bail.

"I am horrified by the statements that were given by these children", she said. "There's no broken bones, there is no major scars, nothing".

On Monday, she invited members of the media to tour her house and they found cluttered rooms and a bathroom floor covered in excrement.

Rogers said she works the graveyard shift as an EKG technician at a heart monitoring company and her husband is a tattoo artist.

Speaking with reporters, Rogers said the children suffered bumps and bruises associated with being kids but no serious injuries. She said she felt judged for having so many children and for choosing to home-school them.

Allen and Ina Rogers of Fairfield, California, have 10 children and are in jail on felony child abuse charges.

Meanwhile Allen, who remains detained, told KCRA: "I am not an animal".

"The truth is that it is a functioning household", he said.
