Carrick: As coach, I'll give Mourinho my opinion

While legendary midfielder Michael Carrick is set to join Mourinho's coaching staff after hanging up his boots, he will not move directly into an assistant manager's role as the United manager has admitted that he simply won't have a traditional assistant for the coming campaign.

The Portuguese pair first joined forces when Mourinho took Faria to Uniao de Leiria as his fitness coach in 2001.

Carrick walked out to a guard of honor and left the pitch in the 85th minute to a standing ovation from the Old Trafford faithful but not before giving them one more moment of quality.

"Also, we are one of the two best teams in the FA Cup". For me personally, moving into midfield as I did and playing so many times alongside Michael, he just made it so easy for me. Over the course of his time at Old Trafford, he managed to win every single English domestic trophy on offer including five Premier League titles.

"I'm there to give my opinion".

"I think it will be Michael Carrick in future, when he has his badges". I've been at this club, such a great club, I obviously know the club and manager, learning off him, the backroom staff, trying to bring the kids through and have an influence on that.

No, the Next STAR WARS Spin-Off Won't Focus on LANDO CALRISSIAN
What Kennedy actually said was Lucasfilm would love to eventually make a Lando spin-off one day, but this is now not a priority. Even Premiere and ComicBook both note the long-gestating chatter around an Obi-Wan film.

"I don't have the final say at all", Carrick said. "But it is a hard role, you need somebody to talk to because you can't bounce things off people if they're not there". J0se recently stated that Faria will always remain a friend and thanked him for his work.

While replacing a player of Carrick's calibre is problematic, the reality is United have familiarised themselves with that conundrum during the season. 'I've got other things to do and I kind of focused on that before this. "I'm not getting carried away here".

'Just because I was a half-decent player it doesn't guarantee you're going to be a success in whatever you do.

"The final chance to cut the cloth clean". I am extra excited in regards to the future then wanting again and being unhappy it is over.

Current Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is sure to receive the sack as soon as the current season comes to a close and by the looks of it, Roman Abramovich is planning to make a move for Rui Faria at the end of the season.
