'Zombieland 2,' With Original Cast, Targeted For 2019

Wernick commented: "We're going on the tenth anniversary of Zombieland".

If you've been waiting for a Zombieland sequel for the better part of a decade, it sounds like you're in luck.

Almost everyone involved with 2009's hit zom-com Zombieland has become exponentially more famous since, so it's been understandable that it has taken so long for a sequel.

The writer added that the hope is to start filming sometime early next year, with an October 2019 release date in mind.

It's hard to imagine it's been nearly a decade since we saw the beloved classic Zombieland, and with such great writing that lead to creating a true adaptation of the Merc with a Mouth, Rhett Reese and Paul Wenick have made the duo in R-rated action comedy. Reese and Wernick also confirmed that the original Zombieland cast will be returning. One such anniversary coming in 2019 is the 10-year commemoration of the release of Zombieland.

Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Emma Stone are reportedly set to reprise their Zombieland roles for a long-awaited sequel to mark the film's 10th anniversary.

Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick stated that the film was being actively developed, with the original cast on board.

I wish I could with this post that "Zombieland 2" was definitely happening, but as with every other "Zombieland" related post, you should probably take this news with a bit of salt. The writers admitted they are "sitting on information" they can't share just yet, but their forthrightness and enthusiasm is encouraging after nearly a decade of teasing Zombieland 2.

Since this project has been through so many ups and downs it's hard to actually believe this might happen, but stay tuned folks.
