Williams Leads Pirates Past White Sox

Trevor Williams notched six strikeouts across seven scoreless innings in the Pirates' 7-0 victory over the White Sox on Tuesday.

Pittsburgh built its 4-0 first-inning lead on Adam Frazier's homer, Josh Bell's two-run double and Colin Moran's RBI double. I was trying to figure out which way to go, trying to make that adjustment, and I just never figured that out.

"I thought we did our homework well last time", he said.

The Pirates' 7-0 pounding of the White Sox didn't come without a price. His last time out, he gave up five runs in 1 2/3 innings, including a grand slam, Friday against the Cubs. Polanco, who also had two hits, had an RBI double in the sixth.

Sox: Second baseman Yoan Moncada (left hamstring tightness) was activated from the disabled list and went 1 for 4. He had been out since May 4.

Judges skeptical they can't review Trump policy
However, in February, the Supreme Court rejected the administration's bid to get the justices to intervene in the controversy. Texas and six other states in recent weeks sued to end the original program, and the case is before the same federal judge.

Pittsburgh center fielder Starling Marte (right side discomfort) and catcher Francisco Cervelli (hit by a pitch in the right forearm) left Tuesday's game. Marte doubled and scored in the bottom of the first. He didn't appear to be hobbled on the basepaths, but he was replaced by Sean Rodriguez in center field between innings. He was hit by a 93 miles per hour fastball in the bottom of the inning by Lopez. Cervelli stayed in the game after a checkup from assistant athletic trainer Ben Potenziano, but was replaced by Elias Díaz for the top of the fourth.

Sox: Left-hander Hector Santiago (0-1, 5.60 ERA) will make a spot start Wednesday in the series finale.

There was no immediate word on the severity of Marte's injury, though both players nearly certainly will be held out of the Wednesday 12:35 p.m. finale of this two-game series with Chicago. He'll be replacing RHP Carson Fulmer, whose scheduled start was pushed back to Saturday.

Over on the Pirates' side, their Wednesday starter will be RHP Jameson Taillon. As for Taillon, he left his last start due to a finger laceration but seems to be okay.
