Transfer news SHOCK as Premier League plan to open window THIS WEEK

Premier League clubs voted last September for an earlier open and close, with the likes of Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho urging the league to approve the move.

Swansea's drop into the Championship after a seven-year absence from the Football League is likely to raise Bartley's value and complicate negotiations but the defender is understood to be keen to return to Elland Road, where he played on loan during the 2016-17 season, and United will persist with attempts to add him to their squad.

'The Premier League will this week confirm that the summer transfer window will open on the earlier date of Thursday May 17 to fall into line with Federation Internationale de Football Association rules.

Every summer as soon as the Premier League season is over, no matter what is to come in the time before one season ending and the next season starting, we hear about so many transfer rumours.

That means domestic transfers can be completed from midnight on May 17, but transfers from overseas can only be finalised once the FIFA Transfer Matching System (TMS) opens at midnight on June 8'.

Leeds, who have made preliminary enquiries about Bartley, were optimistic that Swansea would be happy to sell the defender had they retained their Premier League status.

It opened on Monday, May 7 for domestic transfers.

'EFL clubs will still be able to sign players on loan until August 31.

According to Sky Sports, there is to be a change in the transfer window dates, where Premier League clubs will now be able to conduct business beginning the 17th of May, and close on the 9th of August.

They have also been linked with Neymar, while Liverpool are desperate to keep Mohamed Salah away from the clutches of Real and Barcelona.
