The holy month traditionally begins with a new moon sighting, marking the start of the ninth month in the Islamic calendar.

This year, the holy month has started across Pakistan including Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) along with Saudi Arabia, UAE and other Gulf countries on the same day.
