PM Abbasi accepts Turkish PM's invitation to participate in OIC Summit

The meeting will take place on May 18, government spokesman and Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag announced.

The country's Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said the United States was an accomplice in a crime against humanity.

Turkey strongly condemned the U.S. for opening the embassy in Jerusalem and Israel for "committing a massacre" against the Palestinian protestors.

"The Islamic world should move as one, with one voice, against this massacre", he added.

The organisation -which comprises 57 member nations- has issued a statement about the Friday's extraordinary summit, reading it will be held at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, "the chairman of the 13th session of the Islamic Summit Conference".

He stressed that Turkey, as before, will support Palestine.

Pakistan and Turkey, at the time of American embassy's inauguration in Jerusalem, have agreed to raise the matter of Palestinians' killings due to Israeli aggression at the United Nations and all global forums.

The summit declared East Jerusalem - which the worldwide community regards as annexed by Israel - "as the capital of the State of Palestine" and urged the world to follow suit.

The OIC said it considers this action as an attack on the historical, legal, natural and national rights of the Palestinian people, which undermines the standing of the United Nations and rule of global law and thus represents an affront to worldwide peace and security; as expressed at the Extraordinary OIC Islamic Summit held in Istanbul on December 13, 2017, and also by the global community at the UN General Assembly held on December21, 2017. Its objective is to safeguard the interests of the Muslim world by promoting peace and global harmony among different peoples of the world.
