According to the Australian authority, this data transfer has created privacy issues for almost ten million Android mobile users in the country, who are paying telecom service providers for gigabyte consumption at the time of data harvesting. This investigation could potentially affect over 10 million Australian Android users.

The new Google News app the search giant announced at Google I/O is now available on iOS and Android, as of May 15th.

Google has never hidden the fact that they are tracking your location, you can see your location history in Maps by going to "My Timeline". With the Cambridge Analytica scandal, users trust issues with the tech giants like Google and Facebook are also tottered.

According to reports: "Google has mapped IP addresses, Wi-Fi connection points, and mobile towers".

Australian watchdog the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and the country's privacy commissioner said they were reviewing the report, specifically how much consumers really know about use of location data. Volvo and Google first teamed up previous year when Volvo first announced it would be using an Android-based infotainment system in future cars. "When you use Google services we may collect and process information about your actual location", says Google's privacy policy.

"The result is that Google, the unit of Alphabet behind Android, has access to data about individuals' locations and their movements that go far beyond a reasonable consumer expectation of privacy", the Quartz report says.

Even though Google claims that customers have given their consent to hand over the data when they chose to use an Android smartphone, data privacy advocates say that customers are unaware about the real consequences of their decision.
