Manchester United set to battle rivals City for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred

The Manchester Evening News is reporting that Manchester United are not the only club keen on signing the 25-year-old Brazilian in the summer transfer window.

"I'm very happy at Shakhtar".

'I made it clear to the club that I was very happy here but I want to make a bigger leap in my career.

The former Internacional star arrived at the Ukrainian giants for €15 million in 2013 and has gone on to make nearly 100 league appearances for the club. The Belo Horizonte-born midfielder has since played seven full Brazil internationals and was named this week in Tite's 23-man World Cup squad. I worked with the players for a couple of years.

The midfielder admits there's interest in him from France and England and he insists it would be a dream of playing for a "major" club in Europe. I want to make a bigger leap, I made it clear to the club.

'I think I have to change a little.

Following the sale, the senior vice president now directly owns 5,459 shares of the company's stock, valued at $107,378.53. It is a positive indicator for investor portfolio value - when the price of a stock Investor owns goes up in value.

'The club are reluctant to release [me].

Not only is Fred the type of midfielder Manchester United do not possess at the moment, but he is also Brazilian, which makes him all the more valuable for Mourinho, who previously admitted that he would love to add a Brazil worldwide to his squad. "As soon as I come back from the World Cup we will sit down, talk and look at the options".

While a potential move to join compatriots Neymar and Marquinhos at Paris Saint-Germain has been touted as well.

We'll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but Jose Mourinho is in the market for midfield reinforcements this summer and it seems Fred is a prime target.

Should he enjoy an impressive tournament for the Selecao, his departure from Shakhtar will likely become even more likely but also potentially more complicated.
