DIRECTV NOW Update Includes Cloud DVR, More

Cloud DVR allows users to record up to 20 hours of content for no additional charge.

The service, first launched in December 2016, joins a competitive field of other over-the-top, "skinny bundle" pay-TV packages - and the enhancements promise to give DirecTV Now more firepower in vying with rivals.

Legal streaming service DIRECTV NOW has launched their DVR, which is immediately available via all of the DIRECTV NOW apps and website. The company calls this its True Cloud DVR, explaining that it is still in beta and still being tested, but now available to all DirecTV NOW subscribers. PlayStation Vue, Philo, and YouTube TV have DVR time limits (of 28 days, 30 days, and nine months, respectively) but no limit on recording hours. You can record an entire series or just one episode on nearly all of the channels on DIRECTV NOW. A $10 per month upgrade this summer will increase DVR storage to 100 hours for up to 90 days.

The new DirecTV Now interface puts users' most-watched channels and favorite programs at the center of the app, whereas those were accessible through separate menus. The On Demand content has also been expanded here, as DIRECTV NOW says there are more than 25,000 titles to choose from here. While you can't fast-forward through commercials in on-demand content, it will help you preserve some of your needed Cloud DVR capacity.

Congrats: Taraji P. Henson receives a Mother's Day proposal
Just weeks before Christmas, Henson shared on Instagram that Hayden already gave her a present that she loves. How many selfies have you taken today? I love you, bro, but we always gonna have our eye on you.

DIRECTV NOW has is in the process of rolling out a new update out across all its supported platforms. Sick of your spouse's love for reality TV? Pay $5 extra per month and you can add a third simultaneous stream for families (or, let's be honest, friends who want to borrow access).

Last but certainly not least, AT&T has revamped the DirecTV Now interface on iOS and tvOS.

The update gives you more options for live viewing as well. The Guide interface has also been revamped and takes up less of the display, allowing you to keep watching what's already playing.
