#BREAKING: Shooting at Dixon High School; one in custody

A male subject is in custody after allegedly firing a gun at a police officer at Dixon High School. The shooting happened around 8:00 a.m. when a confrontation between the subject and a school resource officer resulted in an exchange of gunfire. The officer returned fire, injuring the suspect. The suspect is receiving medical treatment and is in custody. The suspect was injured and has non-life threatening injuries.

Dixon police believe the suspect acted alone and there is no further threat to public.

No students or staff were armed during the shootout, with all public schools in the area now on lockdown.

The school remained on lockdown as of 9:20 a.m Wednesday. Several police agencies responded to the scene.

When we contacted the Dixon Police Department, they said they could not confirm or deny the report.
