Arsenal 'hold talks with Jean Michael Seri agent'

Arsenal bosses have held talks with the representatives of Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri as they consider a formal move this summer, Sky Sports News understands.

And a move for Seri is on the cards, but the Gunners face an uphill battle with the 26-year-old setting his sights elsewhere.

However, Arsenal still have a long way to go in their pursuit as Chelsea remain in pole position to sign the player. The last piece of information has been reported by the Daily Mirror in their latest report.

According to claims from the Mirror, the Blues are leading the race to sign the midfielder, who is a strong target for Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to the same story, Sanllehi was close to bringing Seri to FC Barcelona last summer when he was still a member of the La Liga outfit's board. He is expected to cost £40million in the transfer market. He has been a key player for Nice this season and has made 30 league appearances.

Antonio Conte's future is up in the air after an underwhelming title defence, though the Stamford Bridge club still have the opportunity to finish the campaign with some silverware in the FA Cup final against Manchester United this Saturday.

Mikel Arteta is the favourite to replace his former manager, though he looks like missing out on Seri to Chelsea and both sides prepare for an improved campaign.
