1 million chainsaws due to injury hazard — RECALL ALERT

Harbor Freight Tools recalled 1,020,000 chainsaws because of a malfunction that makes them sound like the featured weapon in a slasher movie - they can cut people by running even after being turned off. This recall involves two models of 14-inch chainsaws sold under 3 different brand names. The Portland and One Stop Gardens saws are green and black in color and have "Portland" printed on the blades. The model numbers for each of the chainsaws are either 67255 or 61592 for each brand.

So far, Harbor Freight Tools has received 15 reports of the chainsaws continuing to run, resulting in three laceration injuries. 67255 or 61592, color red or black.

Customers who have the recalled chainsaws should stop using them and contact Harbor Freight Tools for a replacement.

Harbor Freight will have replacement units by May 21.

Looking at some alternate time periods, the 12 month price index is 0.52834, the 24 month is 0.34988, and the 36 month is 0.35287. As well, when a moving average crosses below a longer-term moving average, the study indicates a down turn in the market.

The chainsaws were sold at Harbor Freight Tools stores nationwide and online at www.harborfreight.comfrom May 2009 through February 2018 for about $50.

All recalled chainsaws were sold with a black blade guard.

The recall is being conducted voluntarily by the company under the Consumer Product Safety Commission's Fast Track Recall process.
