Suspect arrested after deadly stabbing at Sonoma State University

In an 87-page report, state auditor Elaine Howle claimed that Sonoma "did not completely comply with requirements related to the oversight of health and safety policies, training and the inspection of laboratory safety equipment", and that the college had failed to conduct regular inspections of "critical safeguards".

However, student residents who spoke to NBC Bay Area said they believe both the victim and suspect are students.

In April 2018, Sonoma State University was apparently cited by California's state auditor for its failure to meet standards for protection against hazardous materials.

Yellow caution tape surrounded the entrance to Alicante where the stabbing occurred and students living on the second floor were told they couldn't leave, according to Press Democrat.

Student Kyle Stickels, 19, said he heard screaming Sunday night and came out of his apartment, where he came face to face with the man he believes was the killer. Authorities have yet to identify the victim or the suspect.

The disadvantage that IHH has over other bidders is the lack of time it had to conduct due diligence. This is an option which the board could look at to survive investor backlash.

"They just said that they can't doing anything because they don't have a reason why they should go in there, they don't have any proof, but I feel like us telling them multiple times is enough proof to at least trying to go in there and at least talk to her", the dormmate said. He started walking down the stairs. And his arm was all bloody and he was carrying a knife. And I just kind of stared at him. And he looked at me and he said, "I was attacked".

Stickels says the man did not seem to be injured.

'It wasn't his injuries. "He was moving fine", he added.

The dorm is described on the university's website as a housing option for freshmen at the 9,400-student university. The two-story stucco buildings are divided into four-bedroom, four-bathroom apartments with shared kitchen and living rooms. University police and fire department personnel responded and found the victim dead of stab wounds. Displaced students were offered lodging that night at area hotels, but all declined, finding space with friends and family, SSU spokesman Paul Gullixson said. The school is also providing counseling services.

Final exams begin Monday on the Rohnert Park campus, so students were already on edge before the stabbing happened, said Jordan, a sophomore.
