While on vacation in 2016, a Chinese woman bought the family a Tibetan mastiff puppy they discovered for sale on the side of the road.

The little guy seemed ravenous.

She was also surprised by how much the "pup" was eating, explaining that his daily meals consisted of "a box of fruits and two buckets of noodles".

Soon, the family's "fur baby" weighed a whopping 250 pounds.

That's when the family came to a startling realization: Their "puppy" was really a black bear. He grew up and was Himalayan bear (the meat of which, by the way, on the Chinese black market is very expensive), reports the Chronicle.info with reference for Today. "Little Black" grew fast and never stopped until he became a 200 kg endangered Asiatic Black Bear and had to be taken into an animal sanctuary. "I am a little scared of bears". They had initially believed he was a Tibetan mastiff.

Su then contacted the Yunnan Wildlife Rescue Center, and after being sedated the animal was transported to its new home, where vets found that it was healthy and had not been maltreated.
