Canal to offer Apple TV as subscriber option

Canal to offer Apple TV as subscriber option

Canal+ will continue to provide a dedicated satellite box for those taking its DTH offering - now about two in five of its overall base in metropolitan France - and Canal+ will continue to be available via the IPTV boxes of Orange, Free and Bouygues, with which the pay TV outfit has distribution agreements.

Canal+ is to offer subscribers an Apple TV 4K box as an alternative to its own devices. Unlike a large standard 4K cable box, which might cost hundreds of dollars for customers, as well as requiring special engineering and installation efforts, the Apple TV is small, basically effortless to connect, and less expensive. Starting on May 17, Canal+ will offer its 5.2 million subscribers the option of an Apple TV 4K, rather than a traditional cable box, for a 6€ ($7) per month rental fee. Apple VP Oliver Schusser noted that choosing the Apple TV 4K over a traditional decoder means getting access to additional content, including the App Store and iTunes movies, as well as Canal+ programming.

myCanal will automatically be installed on Apple TV 4K for Canal customers and will provide access to all the content of their offer, live and on demand, including more than 10,000 films, series, sports and documentary highlights, and all associated features (start-over, playlists, etc.).

Officials from Airbus said it would "would provide all necessary support upon request by the CAAC and Sichuan Airlines". One veteran pilot who did not wish to be named said the crew had handled the incident masterfully.

"Apple TV is the flawless showcase for our premium content exclusives, in particular cinema, sport, and our original creations", the deputy general manager of Canal+ France, Frank Cadoret, said in a statement. "Customers will be able to benefit from a rich and user-friendly experience to watch their favorite Canal programs, as well as accessing Apple services, including the App Store and Apple Music".

Oliver Schusser, Apple's VP of Apple Music and worldwide content, added, "We believe that Canal customers will love using the Apple TV 4K as a decoder".

myCanal also offers a mobile experience that embodies the promise of the Canal+ Group to offer its subscribers an interactive television anytime and anywhere, in France and now throughout the European Union. The Canal offerings reach close to one French household in five and with MyCanal we are making available to everyone features that will captivate a great number of users.
