Atletico Madrid must show 'humility' in Europa League final - Diego Simeone

Atletico have one more fixture this season, however, with Marseille awaiting in the Europa League final at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Wednesday night.

Simeone's side, who dropped into the competition from the Champions League, are favourites to win in Lyon.

Fernando Torres claims that the knowledge of competing with Atletico Madrid in the Europa League final has minimised the feelings of "knowing that my career is over".

Payet admits Marseille is likely to be the underdog against a team which has been in two of the past four UEFA Champions League finals.

"We are playing another final where there is a lot of emotion and excitement but, above all, humility", he said.

Marseille are hoping the fact the game is being played on French soil will work in their favour, even if Diego Simeone's Atletico are formidable opponents. However, he said his team would be in safe hands with his loyal assistant coach German "Mono" Burgos.

"I feel sad that I won't be as close as I'd like to the players but we had this situation before, when German took charge against Arsenal", he said.

"We've known each other for almost all our lives, we have the same vision of football so whatever I'm thinking, he is thinking the same".

"Against Arsenal the team moved well, and we are a team who have prepared a lot".

Marseille playmaker Dimitri Payet, involved in eight goals in his last six Europa League appearances, is a doubt due to injury.

Simeone said the Ligue 1 team "depend a lot on the rhythm that Payet imposes", but warned that theyb were risky "at all levels" even without the former West Ham player.
