9-1-1 adds Jennifer Love Hewitt for season 2

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Golden Globe nominee Jennifer Love Hewitt is joining season two of FOX's drama 9-1-1 as a series regular. She will play Maddie, a brand new call center operator who also happens to be Buck's (Oliver Stark) sister. It remains to be seen if theFriday Night Lights actress will have room in her schedule for the appearances as she films the first season of Bravo's Dirty John. The series is based on the real-life, high-pressure experiences of emergency response providers who are thrust into heart-stopping situations that are equal parts unpredictable, intense and uplifting.

The procedural drama has been a huge hit for Fox since its Season 1 midseason launch on January 10. Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, and Rockmond Dunbar also star.

As previously reported, Britton's 9-1-1 contract was only for one season.

9-1-1 is produced by 20 Century Fox Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television and Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision.

This will mark Hewitt's first television role since her one season turn on "Criminal Minds". Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear are creators, executive producers and writers on the series. Bradley Buecker is an executive producer and directed the series premiere. The casting brings her back to the Fox family after she starred in the network's Party of Five and led its spinoff, Time of Your Life.

She is repped by Gersh, Untitled Entertainment, and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof & Fishman.
