Man Utd midfielder Herrera: Carrick deserves big send off on Sunday

Manchester United play their final game of the season this afternoon against Watford at Old Trafford.

However, reports surfaced prior to kick-off claiming that the France global, who has completed 90 minutes just six times in the Premier League this season, drove away from Old Trafford at noon.

The 55-year-old noted following the 0-0 draw with West Ham United on Thursday night that Martial, left on the bench for that game, would receive a start on Sunday. "Injured Friday in a training session, yesterday couldn't train".

He said: 'I would like to thank the huge number of people who have been kind enough to send messages of support.

"Romelu [Lukaku] will be back for Tuesday and then we'll have to see about Anthony".

Carrick, who is unlikely to be picked for Saturday's FA Cup final against Chelsea on Saturday and will assume a coaching role at United next season, was treated to a guard of honour by both teams before kick off.

Sergio Romero started between the sticks, while Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind were in for rare starts. And of course, some of the players I am totally convinced are going to make it, some others I have good hopes that they are going to make it, and some others I don't believe they are going to make it.

"I have every player apart from Fellaini and Lukaku available and I don't go to the young players".

"It's not a sad goodbye by any means, I've got a lot to look forward to", said Carrick. I know them better than anyone. I'm not sure if he can do it for 90 minutes, but even if he can, I will bring him off so he can come off on his own. "That's for him and the fans".
