Nurses are true nation-builders, says President Ram Nath Kovind

At present, there are 1.7 nurses per 1,000 people in India, but the world average is 2.5 nurses.

Donna Green, chief nurse at Hampshire Hospitals, said "It's great to take time out to say thank you and celebrate the incredible contribution of nurses".

International Nurses Day is used to celebrate for all the Nurses which are available in the World for the Patients who are suffering from many Diseases. The nursing community serves the people with devotion and commitment and the entire nation is grateful for this. As a result, the number of registered nurses and other health workers had crossed 27 lakh till March 2017. Nurses can be found practicing right across Barbados, in numerous settings of acute care, long-term (rehabilitative) and preventative care; in public and private institutions, in industries and corporate companies.

On the International Nurses Day, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that her govt has set up new Nursing Training Schools with a view to increasing the number of trained nurses.

Today (Saturday May 12) is National Nurses Day, a celebration of nursing both in the United Kingdom and internationally - and recognition of the crucial role nurses play.

Organised annually by the International Council of Nurses, International Nurses Day celebrates the contribution that nurses make to societies around the world.
