Another Indian Teenager Raped, Burnt Alive

Another Indian Teenager Raped, Burnt Alive

The latest teenager was alone at her home in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh state when she was raped, police said Friday. According to sources, a 26-year-old man did a crime when a girl said that she would inform her family about the rape incident.

For the third time in a week, a teenage girl in India was raped and then burned alive by her attacker. The attacker, a married father of one, was arrested, along with his cousin, who told him the girl was home alone. The accused had been ordered to do sit-ups and pay a fine as punishment, prompting them to beat the girl's parents and kill her.

Another BJP politician has also been accused of raping a 16-year-old girl - a charge he denies. She was burned over 95 percent of her body. Police said they had arrested a suspect, named as 28-year-old Ravi Chadhar.

Iran says Syria has every right to defend itself against Israel
A de-escalation zone agreed previous year for southern Syria was meant to reduce violence, but Israel has not been reassured. The Iranian military has been supporting President Bashar al-Assad in his fight against a civil uprising and insurgents.

The decision came against the backdrop of spiralling outrage over the rape and killing of an 8-year-old girl in Jammu and Kashmir and several other cases of sexual assault involving minors in recent months. Reports have it that the case was one of the quickest trials of its kind in the country amid outrage over sexual violence against children. That attack led to the approval of the death penalty for rapists.

Many more are believed to go unreported.
