"Let's check the records, no other president in this country has made public their medical trips overseas", Shehu said. "He can't travel for an official meeting to the U.S. and sneak into London to see his doctor, then tell Nigerians it was a technical stopover due to flight issues".

The 75-year-old president spent five months of last year in London on medical leave for an undisclosed ailment.

The president had stopped there on his way back to Nigeria while flying from a working visit to the United States.

The President, in a two paragraph statement signed by the Presidential Spokesman, Femi Adesina had commiserated with the family of late Asake and prayed that God Almighty will comfort all those who mourn the departed, and grant his soul eternal rest.
