Bryan High, Consol students receive $2500 National Merit Scholarships

National Merit scholarship winners this year were drawn from a pool of 16,000 semifinalists and 15,000 finalists.

High school seniors from the New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette areas captured 25 of the 30 Louisiana scholarships announced Wednesday, the second group of winners in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

In order to be considered, Bridgnell was required to submit her academic record, standardized test scores and community and school contributions and leaders as well as an essay and recommendation.

Tekur received a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholar organization.

Bryan High's principal says Lamb is "a wonderful student and a very talented musician". The number of winners named in each state is proportional to the state's percentage of the nation's graduating high school seniors.

Finalists are eligible to earn scholarship money through the National Merit Scholarship Program.
