And yet Betts is apparently not the most esteemed member of his own family.

Actress Meghan Markle is set to marry Prince Harry on May 19 at Windsor Castle and the Boston Red Sox outfielder recently found out that he and Markle could be distant relatives, according to The Boston Globe's Peter Abraham.

Betts, who leads the majors with 13 home runs and a.355 batting average, left Boston's 6-1 win against the Texas Rangers on Sunday after being hit with a throw in the shoulder while running the bases.

Plane diverted over Florida after windshield shatters during flight
One person, Michael Paluska, a reporter for WFTS who happened to be on the flight, shared a video of the ordeal to Twitter . A JetBlue plane's windshield shattered midflight, forcing the flight to be diverted Sunday afternoon , ABC News reported .

According to Jim McNiff, a retired college professor who previously traced the roots of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady back to Boston, found that Betts' great-great-grandfather Joseph Betts and Markle's great-great-grandfather Jacob Betts were from Madison County, Alabama. In house No. 107, 14-year-old Jacob Betts lived with his family. Whether Joseph and Jacob were related can not be determined conclusively. The Globe reports that Markle's great-great aunt Katie married Betts' great-uncle Richard, meaning that even if the baseball player and the princess are not related by blood, they are definitively related by marriage.

"That would be cool, to meet her", Betts said, per Abraham.

Betts himself has become one of baseball's top players. Then we suppose Betts will have to settle for being known as an MVP candidate. After their brawl at Fenway Park last month, the teams square off at Yankee Stadium for the first time this season Tuesday night.
